Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?
My mindset during treatment is to eliminate clients’ pain, and to facilitate quality of life, QOL improvement.
Whether using my own therapy skillset or referring out to other health practitioners with other skillset, I aim to eliminate or minimize clients’ pain.
During treatment, I apply the following skills:
- Problem solving skills
A skill which I had learnt as an engineer. I believe that discovering root cause of issues will point us to positive results in treatment.
Subsequently, I will address issue to resolution via soft tissue manipulation or refer out to other treatment modalities e.g. physiotherapy, chiropractic, MD, podiatrist, psychotherapy, etc.
- Observation skills.
Good and experienced sports, martial arts coaches have a keen observational aptitude. Usually they are able to spot postural, gait issues.
As a personal trainer and a martial art coach, I am able to help identify structural postural imbalances.
- Fascial stretching and remedial exercises
I usually integrate fascial stretching in massage therapy treatments.
As needed, I prescribe remedial exercise(s) or provide recommendations in daily activities modification as an extension of the treatment.
What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?
I primarily provide therapeutic treatment which includes:
- Deep tissue
- Trigger point therapy
- Fascial stretching
In addition, I have provided sports massage treatments, pre-natal massages, hot stones treatments, decompression cupping therapy and I usually incorporate hydrotherapy in most the treatments.
As we are mostly seated in front our computer screens, or hunched over devices in a high stress environment, many hours driving in traffic congestion, majority of my treatments are indicated toward issues related to tension and tightness in the neck, shoulders and back (NSB).
I have also dealt with severe NSB cases which had developed into headaches.
My approach to treatment includes:
- Understand the issue
- Identify root cause of pain
- Devise treatment plan and perform treatment
- Client Empowerment/ Preventative: Provide recommendations, tips, education on preventative remedial exercise or lifestyle modifications.
What are you proud of in your practice?
I feel a sense of reward when clients respond positively to the treatment.
I am especially humbled when clients recommend their family members and friends to seek treatment with me.
The objective validation is the impetus to my continuous learning and treatment skills improvement.
