Yonge & Bloor | Stephanie Stewart, RMT

Registered Massage Therapist

Hi! I’m Steph. I’m a graduate from Sutherland-Chan school of Massage Therapy. Before massage, I worked for over 10+ years in children’s education. It seems like a simple answer but I came into this career because I wanted to help people. I want to help others feel their best not only physically but also mentally as massage can help with stress, anxiety and much more!

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

As mentioned earlier, I have held a license as a RECE (Registered Early Childhood Educator) for 10+ years. While this career may be quite different from the world of massage, the qualities I needed in that field translate pretty well into this one! I find it natural to welcome my clients into a kind and calming environment. I think that a great part of understanding a client’s needs is possessing empathy and listening fully to their needs. I promise I have an abundance of patience for my patients!

I also want to bridge my two careers together so I welcome expecting parents and children to become clients too! I’m aware of the many challenges that a body goes through during pregnancy so I am here to make your massage experience as comfortable and safe for you and your little one(s) as possible.

I also have a wide range of sports knowledge that could aid in my understanding of a particular sports related injury or the muscles/body structures that might be more important/aggravated due to specific repeated movements. I have over 3+ years experience participating in sports/activities such as softball, dragon boating, badminton, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, bouldering and running. Feel free to open a discussion about these sports or any others that interest you.

What are the top 3 treatments that you specialize in?

We learn so many skills/techniques as a massage therapist whether it is trigger point release techniques, joint mobilizations, pin and stretch muscle techniques, etc. Such a variety of techniques that I personally would say that I use all of the above mentioned, but cater each treatment and technique according to what the individual client needs/wants. Some people like certain techniques and others don’t, which is totally okay! By working together we can find out what is a good fit for your treatment.

What are you proud of in your practice?

I’m proud of the various individuals and the variety of cases that I have had the privilege of working with. I’ve worked with individuals with Multiple Sclerosis, Osteoarthritis, pregnancy patients, scar work from breast surgeries, numerous people with shoulder issues, etc.

Mostly, I’m just proud to be able to help my clients feel better than they may have felt before coming in for a treatment!

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

Like in life, I’m up for any adventure! I enjoy journeying with patients to better their healing whether it’s from a sports injury, work, a bad night’s sleep, etc.

If I had to narrow it down, here are a few specific cases I enjoy treating:

Relaxation based massages – Relaxation based massages come naturally to me and I am there to make the client feel comfortable, care free, and stress free for the time we are together! Massage can not only improve how our body is feeling physically but can have an effect on our nervous system. We can work towards better sleep, reducing anxiety, stress and more.

Pregnancy related massages – Whether you are expecting or have recently had a baby, I want to help you feel comfortable and relaxed! I’m aware of the physical and mental stress that a pregnancy can have on your body so I want to help you feel better.
